Company Profiles

How to create and manage company profiles in GovScout to power personalized contract matching and AI relevance scoring.

Company profiles are the foundation of GovScout's personalized contract matching. The more complete your profile, the better GovScout can score and recommend opportunities that fit your business.

Creating a Company Profile

Navigate to Dashboard > Companies and click Add Company. You will need to provide the following information:

Required Fields

  • Company Name -- Your legal business name as it appears on SAM.gov
  • Capability Description -- A plain-English description of your company's services, expertise, and target market. This field is the primary input for AI matching, so be thorough and specific.
  • UEI Number -- Your Unique Entity Identifier from SAM.gov. Adding this allows GovScout to cross-reference your registration data.
  • CAGE Code -- Your Commercial and Government Entity code, used for contract identification.
  • NAICS Codes -- Select all NAICS codes relevant to your business. These are used to filter opportunities and calculate set-aside eligibility.
  • Set-Aside Certifications -- Indicate which programs you are certified under:
    • Small Business
    • 8(a) Business Development
    • HUBZone
    • Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned (SDVOSB)
    • Women-Owned (WOSB)
    • Economically Disadvantaged Women-Owned (EDWOSB)
  • Contract Vehicles -- List any existing contract vehicles (GSA Schedule, GWACs, BPAs) your company holds.
  • Past Performance Keywords -- Keywords describing completed projects that help the AI understand your track record.

Writing an Effective Capability Description

Your capability description is the single most important field for AI matching. Here is what works well:

Think of your capability description as the text you would use in a capability statement or the "about" section of a proposal. Be specific about what you do, who you do it for, and what technologies or methodologies you use.

Weak description:

"We are an IT company that provides technology solutions."

Strong description:

"Acme Federal Solutions provides managed IT services, cloud migration, and cybersecurity solutions for federal civilian agencies. Our core capabilities include AWS GovCloud architecture and migration, FedRAMP authorization support, Security Operations Center (SOC) monitoring, and enterprise help desk services. We specialize in mid-size agencies with 500-5,000 users and hold an active GSA IT Schedule 70 contract."

The strong description gives the AI specific information to match against: service types, target agencies, technologies, contract vehicles, and scale.

Managing Multiple Companies

Pro, Team, and Custom tier users can manage multiple company profiles. This is useful if you:

  • Operate multiple business entities (e.g., an 8(a) joint venture and a standalone company)
  • Want to track opportunities for different divisions with distinct capabilities
  • Manage contracting for affiliated companies

Each company profile generates its own AI scoring and can have its own saved searches and recurring alerts.

Public Company Pages

GovScout allows you to create a public-facing company page that showcases your capabilities to potential teaming partners and primes. To enable this:

  1. Go to your company profile settings
  2. Toggle Public Profile to enabled
  3. Customize your public page URL slug
  4. Share your public page link with partners

Public pages display your capability description, NAICS codes, certifications, and contact information. They do not expose any search history or internal scoring data.

Your company profile also powers the AI chat assistant's scoring capability. When you ask the assistant to score an opportunity, it evaluates the match against your active company profile's capability description, NAICS codes, and certifications.
